Palazzo pants, flamboyant and scandalous; back in style this summer

Palazzo pants are long women’s trousers, cut with a loose , very wide leg  that flares out from the waist.

They were pioneered in 1920’s by fashion icon Coco Channel, and by Katharine Hepburn in the 1930’s, becoming popular in the 60’s and 70’s , when the fashion movement adopted a more relaxed, comfortable outfits. Giorgio Armani and Donna Karen reinvented the palazzo suit style in the 80’s, taking this fashion to a much higher end

They are back in style this summer, seeing them from Nordstrom, Neuman Marcus, to Steinmart and TJ Max, adding a feminine touch to this summer’s look.

Why wear them?

They are light , breezy and  comfortable on a hot summer day, and can be dressed up or down, making a perfect office-attire professional look, or an adventurous , flirty look, depending on the colors and paired top and accessories.

I find them versatile, and flattering on any silhouette- may cover the undesirable spots with a floaty top, or give the illusion of longer legs, when worn with hills.
